Exhibiting at Foxhall since 1986, Nick Paciorek’s adventuresome use of color places him in a unique painting tradition. His new series, titled "Olympic Inspiration: On the Slopes ~ In the Valleys," includes many works of Torino, Italy and the surrounding 2006 winter Olympic Games. Central to the paintings is his signature use of brilliant color: the luminous blue skies melding with the yellow and orange sunny peaks, cooling against the snow’s translucent purples.
 
Working in small to large canvases, Paciorek turns his sights toward long vistas of mountains in Italy. The finished pieces are primarily landscapes but Paciorek includes some skiers in the paintings. They are small, the way he feels in the presence of the majestic mountains. He states, "The landscape speaks for itself in a way no human can…..I want the viewer to be affected by the color just as I am when I paint – to feel the same emotions…." Paciorek studied at the Maryland Institute of Art as well as the Academy of Art, Art Institute of Chicago and has won numerous awards for his paintings.
 
Foxhall Gallery’s exhibition is concurrent with Paciorek’s exhibition in Torino, Italy during the Winter Olympics.
