The Art Of the Hunt New Paintings by Carol Lee Thompson With Rural Landscapes Here and Abroad: Showcase featuring David Zuck and David Buckley Good, Diana Bunting, Lida Stifel, Lee Boynton, and others February 5 ~ March 5, 2010 Foxhall’s exhibition will feature award-winning equine painter Carol Lee Thompson. Works will include paintings of the hunt and rural subjects. Also included in the exhibition are landscape paintings of rural settings in Virginia, Maryland, other sites in the United States, and abroad. Carol Lee Thompson is a contemporary artist trained in detailed classical painting and technique. The artist is recognized for her fine Equine oil paintings. Ms. Thompson paints in a wide range of subjects including still life, landscape and portraiture. She has won numerous awards and has been recognized in the Western United States for her Native American subjects. In 2007, Thompson was awarded inclusion in Best Sporting Art at the prestigious fall juried exhibition at the American Academy of Equine Art, International Museum of the Horse in Kentucky. In 2006 and 2007, her work was included at the Masters of Foxhounds Association of America (MFHA) Centennial Traveling Art Exhibition. The artist holds a Master of Fine Arts from the Maryland Institute College of Art; she is also a graduate of the Shuler School of Fine Art. Her works are included in numerous private and public collections throughout the United States.
David W. Zuck paints what he knows best. His ethereal landscapes reflect the seductive beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains and the transcendent quality of "plein air" landscapes. The artist states: "By working in the spirit of 'plein air' I have learned to let the oil medium breathe with lively brushwork." The artist transfers a vision of the unique qualities of place to develop an intimacy with a particular spot on the earth with the viewer. Zuck received his degree from American University and has been featured in numerous East Coast exhibitions and is included in important collections throughout the Eastern United States.
David Buckley Good paints jewel-like landscape compositions. He has won numerous awards and grants including artist-in-residence in Dinan, France at the invitation of Les Amis de la Grande Vigne. David is a member of Oil Painters of America and has been featured in American Artist magazine. The artist was also resident at the Arlington Arts Center in Virginia. Good studied painting at Art Students League, NYC as recipient of a grant from the Elizabeth Greenfields Foundation. In addition, he has studied at the Shuler School of Fine Arts. His works are included in important collections throughout the United States.
