KATHRIN BURLESON: watercolors, oil paintings
![]()
"Frog Dreams of Tulips"
wc 11" x 15"
Northern California artist, Burleson's oil paintings reflect her interest in icons. Single still life objects in oil such as a potato or an egg are rendered in a meditative, simple, iconographic style. Her watercolors are fantasy renditions of garden flowers and frogs in richly saturated color. Her paintings reflect her unconscious intuitive skill for weaving a story. She brings a fresh perspective to her obsessions of the natural world which surrounds her.
Burleson studied at the University of Paris and the University of California, Berkeley. Her work has been widely exhibited in California. Commissions include the Southland Corporation MDA Award.
JOEL JAECKS: watercolors
![]()
"Sunroom and Lilac"
wc 40" x 60"
Jaecks' watercolors are filled with light and capture architectural detail with a distinctive eye, giving the viewer a vision of the dignity of ordinary life as seen in the yards and fences of small town and suburban America. Part of the New Realism movement, his paintings swirl with delicate color, abstract shadow and shading. No sentimentality or romance, Jaecks explores light and its delight.
Jaecks has shown at the Butler Institute of American Art, Chicago International Art Exposition, Navy Pier and is in numerous collections including Quaker Oats Corporation, General Electric and the Wustum Museum of Fine Arts, Wisconsin.
