Virginia landscape painter, David Zuck translates views of the
Old Dominion's countryside with a deft ability to depict the interplay between light and shadow. From an early age he studied nature
as his father founded the botany department at Drew University. Later, after graduating from American University, Zuck began to
record those waterways and mountains on canvas which had escaped urban development out of a desire for preservation. Developing
his own distinct style, Zuck was heavily influenced by the works of George Innes, Winslow Homer and Albert Bierstadt. With
elegant, muted colors, he accurately renders the feel, experience, tranquility and the energy of the landscape.
Zuck's paintings may be found in numerous public and private collections, including Philip Morris, USA; Nation's Bank; and
Roanoke and Botetourt Telephone Company. He recently showed at Foxhall in February, 1997, "Landscapes of Virginia."
