A skilled California
plein-aire painter, Louise DeMore paints in a fluid, impressionistic style. She states, "I don't intend to tell a story,
but to create a mood." The artist chooses to capture a moment or emotion in time though deep, tactile surfaces and strong color.
Inspired by Sorolla and Sargent, DeMore paints with a jubilant color field with a quality evocative of reverie. California
landscapes and gardens predominate as subjects.
A member of the prestigious California Art Club, DeMore participated in the 85th annual
Gold Medal Exhibition at the Los Angeles Arboretum. She studied with master artist Sergei Bongart and at the Art Center
College of Design, Los Angeles.
Her book, Painting Oils, published in May, 1997, by North Light, F&W Publications, is a refreshing, easy to read primer
for aspiring artists. DeMore has received over 70 awards including First Place, Knickerbocker Artists' Invitational, New York;
Oil Painters of America, Chicago; Salmagundi Club, Her paintings have been eagerly sought by collectors such as James Fleece,
Exxon, International; James Manley, Chase Manhattan Investors, and many others.
