New to Foxhall Gallery in 1997, talented artist
Robyn Krauthammer is skillful in various media. Initially studying classical Chinese watercolor, she moved freely into
a unique, painterly style of realism. Her restrained oils reflect a subtle sensibility and love of classical learning, while
her watercolors reflect the more abstract qualities of Chinese brushwork. On the other hand, her bronze sculptures are
energetic and full of emotion, with subjects depicting ancient myths which touch on the human condition. Her sculptures
fit as easily in libraries as they do in gardens.
Krauthammer studied at St. Anne's College, Oxford, England, the Maryland Institute College
of Art and the Corcoran School of Art, Washington, D.C. For her Chinese watercolor paintings, she was given the National Sumi-e
Society of America Award. Her work is in numerous distinguished private and corporate collections.
