Ronni Jolles: Paper Collage June 15 ~ July 17, 2010 Jerry and Twila Eisley cordially invite you to view the exhibition and hear the artist. Reception: Thursday, June 17, 5:30 ~ 7:30 pm Gallery Talk with Artist at 6:45 pm
Foxhall Gallery proudly presents artist Ronni Jolles in her second solo exhibition at our gallery. Ronni Jolles is in love with paper as a medium. The artist sees paper not as a mere surface but a thing of beauty in itself. She meticulously manipulates paper with tears, bends and floods, color on color, layer upon layer to create fluid line and texture. Her work is not mere paper collage; her artwork vibrates with wondrous depth and nuance of color and shape. The artist draws inspiration from what she sees and knows. Each artwork is carefully layered and clued on canvas and sometimes touched with chalk pastel to accent the textures already created by the work itself. Jolles often begins with an image in mind, but as the artwork develops the textures of the materials themselves guide her hand. Each piece is unique with a distinctive visual effect and sculptural light and shadow.
